Master Plan for Huaiji Reservoir Holiday Resort
Heshan City, Guangxi province, China
Completed : 2003

Huaiji Reservoir is located 13km south of HeshanCity. The area is surrounded by natural environment. Huaiji village and other smaller villages are located in the south of the area. The traditional village houses become part of the surrounding natural environment. The total area of the Resort is about 6000 hectares including the 800 hectares reservoir. The aim for the development is to utilise the reservoir and the surrounding hill areas to provide recreational, holiday and entertainment facilities HeshanCity and surround. The facilities include water-related activities, market place, health facilities, farming centre and restaurants, creating a modern resort with a rich variety of activities. The planning principle is to preserve the natural environment. The building forms should be sympathetic with the surrounding and the recreational activities should avoid damaging the natural setting. Most of the buildings are sited at the south eastern area forming the entrance concourse and the market place. The residential facilities are housed in landscaped village clusters along the water edges. Large areas are destined for farming and tea plantation to enhance the hillside slopes creating a rich farming landscape. The north western area is reserved for a outward bound camp providing outdoor living and training activities. The north area is designated for individual villas while the east is reserved for a 18 hole golf course. The master plan provided a holiday resort in the natural environment with a rich countryside setting.
