The site is situated south of the district administration building and the public garden, surrounding by residential development. The environment is ideal with a small river crossing the entire site form the natural division between the terrace housing and the individual houses. In order to increase the total floor area and to soften the impacts of the tall district administration building on the houses, two 12 storeys apartment blocks are sited in the north west corner of the site. The apartments are designed with 3 and half external walls to facilitate cross ventilation. There are 37 terrace houses each has a courtyard and a small garden. The living rooms all face onto landscaped garden. There are 20 individual houses each has private garden and garage. Three shopping malls are located along the road. A club house is sited in the middle of the site astriding the small river forming the focal point of the complex. The layout maximized the close contact of the buildings with landscaped areas. The design is environmentally friendly, facilitating cross ventilation and energy saving. The external treatment embodied European as well as Chinese characteristics creating a residential complex with a modern Shanghai vernacular style.
