"Xi Xi Project" Master Plan Proposal

The Company was appointed by the Beijing Jing Yuan Property Development Co. Ltd. in June, 1994 to be the lead consultant for the master plan work which included nine sites in total. The work included current assessment and in-depth studies to co-ordinate development work in progress.
The aim for the re-development is to rebuilt the district into a modern, multi functional commercial area with inter-connected development framework. The master plan proposed district wide pedestrian system with first floor inter building walkway which linked up all buildings along both sides of Xidan North Street together with cross street high level pedestrian links, one of which has a shopping arcade providing continuity of the shopping activities between the shopping malls on either side of Xidan North Street. It also proposes under road shopping malls which link up basement shopping malls along the main road and underground bicycle routes partially lid by daylight throughout the length of Xidan North Street freeing the main road of bicycle traffic. All sites are linked in the second basement level by an underground network of roads which helps to reduce surface car traffic and provide alternate fire escape routes for all basements.
